Artist Statement

I am queer and everything I make is quee

My work comes circumstances of my upbringing, critiqued and elevated through images of light, and peaceful moments. I am queer artist who grew up in a heteronormative household, and a very small town; I had a lot of expectations placed on my that I wish to break out of, and describe the shape of through my art.

My work also functions as a place to enjoy small moments for myself. I collect pictures of light and little moments of beauty, which I then tie to a significant struggle or frustration, and transform those feelings into action. Working from an external visual, and then turning inward for emotional contexts.

I want the viewer feel a deeply personal moment with me. Despite having lived uniquely, as all of these themes are deeply personal, I want to bring them closer.

The day to day scenes make these reachable even for people whose identities vastly differentiate from my own. The feeling of striking individualism, but lost in the crowd can resonate with anyone who simply grew up.
